Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy might return to match action sooner than expected...
Real Madrid's prolific hitman Ruud van Nistelrooy sustained a complicated knee injury back in November, and many expected his season to be over due to the problem.
The reigning title holders even opted to sign Ajax striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar as his replacement.
However, the former Oranje international wants to do his utmost to return to match action before the end of the season and is confident that he will succeed.
"It's possible for me to return to match action in April. Nevertheless, it's very important for me to remain patient," said Van Nistelrooy to Sport1.
"The doctors already told me that I would feel very good very quick. I can bend my knee like nothing ever happened and you can't see that there's something wrong."
"Yet I still have to use crutches for at least eight weeks. Additionally, I'm using a device that gives my knee extra support for eight hours per day."
"I can hardly wait till it's January the eighth. That's the date I can walk normally again without any help."
